Magpie was always the more nervous of the two Topaz x Shiner twin doelings. She surprised me with triplets as a first freshener. She stood in one corner of the shed snorting at that first goopy thing and I thought "Oh no..." It took a couple minutes and the other kids being born (zero issues) but she figured it out and was a fantastic dam.

I downsized that year - 2023 - and Magpie was on the sale list. Mostly because we had Meadowlark and Meadowlark was the friendlier of the two. I milked Magpie for her new owner and I was pleasantly surprised by how well she took to it! She became a favorite to milk. Lovely udder, great texture, orifice, teat size...the whole package.

I sold her completely trained to milk and her new owner was very happy to milk her and took fantastic care of her and Patience. Magpie kidded with triplets again there in the fall 2024. Unfortunately, life happened and their new owner had to disperse her herd. I am forever grateful their current owner contacted me. I ended up bringing them back, along with two herdsire bucklings and three doelings.

Magpie has grown up to be a beautiful adult Kinder doe and I am excited to see her kid and freshen in 2026.
