Zenyatta, barn name Yatta, started off kidding season 2025 by popping out very large twins out in the pasture. I'd actually just given her a sanitary clip that afternoon and had no idea she would be going into labor, much less delivering a few short hours later.
Despite forgetting where her newborn buckling was in the field more than once, she was actually a very good dam. She fed her kids very well!
Yatta, unfortunately, was not a fan of being milked. We had a massive spill that really hurt her amount on the second test. We even had sessions of milking onto the ground. Finally, she's figured out milking isn't so bad. She's currently being dried off but will at least have a complete lactation on record, even if it wasn't showing her best.
Her udder texture is very soft. Her teats are cylindrical and about two fingers and at thumb size. Decent orifice. Her attachments are phenomenal though she lacks fore like her dam. Her teats being so close to her leg made it hard for me to hand milk but once she started standing well and scootching her back legs out, it got much easier. I do hope milk down is improved with a second freshening.
Yatta is one of my bigger does, both long and tall, still very much an awkward youngster herself. I am curious to see how she matures. Super friendly girl but one of the bossiest in the herd. She hums when she eats and Yatta is a VERY enthusiastic eater.
