First Fresheners 2022

These Kinder does have now freshened for the first time, but these are obviously older photos. I will update this spring as time permits!

Zachary's Champion Goats Blue Velvet

Pedigree Velvet.png

D.O.B January 1, 2020
Generation - 1st

Velvet was an oops baby - her dam was a Pygmy doe and her sire a Nubian buck - NOT the way you want to make Kinders, but a Kinder nonetheless. I got Velvet at just a few days old, as a tiny bottle baby. She was a bit premature, but she got the hang of nursing quickly!
The genetics behind this first gen girl are top-notch, and I think she will be an excellent example of a Kinder. Sire - Six-Point Sir Ralph:

If there was an IQ test for goats, Velvet would probably be a genius. She's so stinkin' smart and full of personality. Recently, she's gotten very loving again, but there for a bit she was in a rotten toddler stage where her favorite thing to do bite! I wouldn't trade this sassy, intelligent girl for anything.
Velvet freshened with buck /doe twins March 2022. She's done an amazing job raising two chunky kids, especially for such a small doe. I haven't gotten a good udder fill photo yet (partial fill in this one) but she's my easiest-to-milk Kinder first freshener to date. Her teats aren't long but they're plump with a great orifice and her texture is wonderful.

Hefty Goat Holler Farm Sweet Caroline

D.O.B March 4, 2020
Generation - 3rd
Caroline was a triplet and pulled to be a bottle baby. If Velvet is a genius, Caroline is the class dunce, bless her heart. But she is a good-natured dingdong, even if she has the gross habit of trying to chew my hair while she has a mouthful of cud. She's just ridiculously likable.
I like how long  she is and how much rear width she has. She's grown well and is the second Priscilla X Tigger doeling I have retained.
Caroline freshened with triplets March 2022. She shelled these kids out quickly and has been a surprisingly attentive dam. I'd like to see a better production so her kids were supplemented on the bottle. One of the nicest things about her as been her attitude towards adversity - she gets in there to eat no matter what and doesn't whine! This udder photo is at the end of her lactation, not peak, but gives you an idea. Teats are more plumb than her dam and a decent size. FF attachments are decent, too. Already a lovely foreudder.

Yearling Kinder Does

Please note all kid photos are a work in progress! It takes time to learn to stand square. I try to have short lessons where they get more comfortable with the process and enjoy lots of scratches and attention. Only retained doelings are here - for complete list of kids, check out the birthweight blog posts or the posts on the Facebook page tagged #HeftyGoatHollerFarmKidding2021.

Sire - DKG FS Shiner
Dam - ZCG Topaz
Height - 21.25"

Twin sister to Meadowlark, Magpie is the more skittish of the two and thus more difficult to get pictures of. Like her sister, she is wide throughout and has a nice bone and promising teat placement and size as a doeling. Shown here May 2022.

Meadowlark was the first kid born in 2021 and the first kid sired by Shiner to hit the ground!  She and her sister are turned shy like Topaz but no where near as flighty. She's a growthy, correct doe that I think is my best of the 2021 crop. Shown here May 2022.

Sire - DKG FS Shiner

Dam - HGF Noel
Height - 23"

Nightingale is a good-natured, laid-back doeling I like a lot. She's leaner and longer than the Topaz twins, with what I call a "rangier" type muscle. Her young dam has one my favorite udders as far as attachments and shape, but I am hoping Shiner added some teat and orifice size. The rear photo is before a year old and others from May 2022.

Dam - HGF Tulsi
Height - 21.5"

Teal is a loudmouth like her dam! She seems like a carbon copy of Tulsi (since sold to a friend). She's been my wild child of the year but has recently decided to come give the people fingers a nibble in case there is an animal cracker or apple. Interestingly, Teal developed an asymmetrical precocious udder. Teal is smaller and lighter than the other Shiner daughters but I am curious to see how she milks. If her precocious udder is any indication, it looks like she will have nice-size teats and a smooth fore.

Hefty Goat Holler Farm Constance

D.O.B March 10, 2022
Generation -  5th
Sire - DKG FS Shiner

Dam - ZCG Bindi

Constance was born with some assistance - she presented with just one back foot out. Thankfully,  I got it all sorted out quickly and she was just fine (as was Bindi!) I pulled her and sister Felicity as bottle babies. Constance has consistently been the leggier of the two. Recently, she's gotten very sweet. She's always been incredibly pestery - one of her favroite things to do is untie your shoes and not let go of the laces.

Sire - DKG FS Shiner

Dam - ZCG Bindi

Felicity is a funny girl. She's has a habit of leaning her head to the side or very far back. I thought at first it was because she had also needed assistance at birth, though she was in a normal diving position (basically, Bindi's brain had short-circuited, read the full story at #heftygoathollerfarmkidding2022 on my FB farm page).
But there's nothing apparently wrong with her in anyway - I think she's just a little goofball. A chatty goofball that likes to pick fights with other doelings. She's in such an awkward stage right now but I love her regardless.

Hefty Goat Holler Farm Patience

D.O.B March 10, 2022
Generation -  5th
Sire - DKG FS Shiner

Dam - ZCG Bindi

Patience was named ironically. She was the first of the triplet Bindi girls to be born and she was immediately mobile, yelling indignantly for a teat and demanding all of Bindi's attention. As you can see, she is still unhappy when things aren't going her way. Despite that, she's curious about you and is getting more accepting of nose boops and cheek scratches.
She's obviously standing too wide in the rear photo but at least you can see her cute baby udder.

Hefty Goat Holler Farm Sienna

D.O.B February 18, 2022
Generation -  5th
Sire - DKG FS Shiner

Dam - HGF Vixen

I keep going back and forth on what I wanted to name this girl. She's been a bit of a wallflower goat but she's been moved to the smaller herd where she can get some more attention. These photos were the first time she's been seriously messed with since birth and she did great. While her twin sister was more correct (she went to live in Missouri with a few other of my herd!), Sienna still has that lovely escutcheon Shiner puts on his daughters. I want to keep my Aubrey line going strong, so I am glad to keep this granddaughter.
